IUL dialup services now available North America wide!
Our service area just got WAY bigger.
IUL is pleased to announce the availability of dialup Internet access in
over 8000 locations across North America.
-
If you take your computer with you when you
travel, you can dial in to your account from any of these locations at no
extra charge.
-
If you have friends or relatives across
Canada and the US who need a dialup ISP, IUL can now provide that service
for them as well (and remember, you get a $20 referral fee when they
mention your name when they sign up). Don't forget that we now also
provide Slipstream Accelerated Dialup which
may not be available from their local ISP!
-
If you move, you can likely keep your IUL
account as our North American dialup area will likely have you covered.
-
Access points are available virtually
everywhere in the US and in most major cities in Canada, limited coverage
is also available in Puerto Rico.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
I'm an existing IUL customer, how do I sign
up for North America wide access?
-
How do I access my IUL account from another
city?
-
If you travel frequently, IUL will be
shortly making available dialer software which contains a list of all of
the phone numbers for our dialup locations.
-
If you need to access from another city
infrequently, we will be providing an access point locator on our
website through which you can look up the local dialup number for the
area you will be visiting.
-
What is the difference between "Pool-A" and
"Pool-B" dialup numbers?
-
"Pool-A" is our main provider, and is the
pool to which all IUL accounts are assigned by default. This pool
contains over 8000 dialup numbers in Canada, the US and Puerto Rico.
-
"Pool-B" is our secondary provider, users
are assigned to this pool based on specific needs that may not be met by
our main provider. This pool does not include coverage in the US
or Puerto Rico, but does contain dialup numbers in approximately 40
Canadian cities that are not covered by our main provider.
-
My account is in "Pool-A" but I will be
traveling to a city only listed in "Pool-B" (or vice versa), what can I
do?
-
If you will be needing this type of
access frequently, you can add the additional coverage to your account
for only $7.95/month ($89.95/year), you will then be able to connect to
any access number in "Pool-A" or "Pool-B" without any further
intervention.
-
If you only need the coverage for a short
period such as a vacation or business trip we can still accommodate you,
just let us know that you need the additional coverage and we will
activate it as required ($7.95/calendar month or portion thereof... so
if you require the service for the last week in June and the first week
in July that will count as 2 months of service).
-
Will you be adding new access numbers to
"Pool-A" or "Pool-B"?
-
How do all of these access numbers know I'm
an IUL customer?
-
Will I be able to send e-mail when I'm
connected in another city?
-
Yes, our servers are configured to allow
you to send e-mail just as if you were connected here.
-
As a backup measure we have a facility
known as "pop-before-smtp"; if you are trying to send mail and you are
getting a "relaying denied" error message, hitting your send/receive
button in your email program a second (and in extreme cases a 3rd) time
should trigger this alternate method and allow your mail to go through.
-
You can also access our webmail system at
http://webmail.iul.net and send
your email using that method if some circumstance is preventing the
other two measures from letting your mail through.
-
If I am on a business trip and my wife is
at home, can we both use our IUL account?
-
Yes you can have the account set up in as
many locations as you need, but you cannot both be connected at the same
time. All IUL accounts are allowed a single concurrent access to
the Internet, this has not changed from our previous policies.
-
I've looked up an access number on your
website, how do I make sure it is a local call?
-
It is your responsibility to verify that
an access number is local to the phone you are calling from. This
can usually be confirmed by looking in the front of the local phone
book, or by asking the operator. The access number locator on our
website will attempt to "best guess" local numbers for you but only the
phone company knows for sure. IUL is not responsible for any long
distance charges incurred by failure of customers to verify that access
numbers are local to them.
